PerformanceGuard helps you quickly identify your "resource thieves:" processes and users who consume excessive amounts of resources like CPU power and RAM.
- The quick overview: The Processes and Users graph (ANALYZE > Graphs > Combined Bar Charts > Processes & Users) provides the overview in an easy-to-view bar chart format, no matter whether you are looking for resource-consuming users or processes.
- The details: The Process Resources hotspot (ANALYZE > Overview > Hotspots > Process Resources) provides detailed data about resource-consuming processes, and you can drill down to view which computers and user accounts ran a given
The Processes & Users bar chart (ANALYZE > Graphs > Combined Bar Charts > Processes & Users) gives an overview of which processes and users consume the most resources in terms of CPU, memory, etc.
This bar chart is useful because ... you can quickly find out who uses the most CPU power, RAM, etc.
IP data process information is not collected on computers that run Windows XP.
When you specify parameters for the chart, you can select between several types of data:
- Total Consumed CPU Time by Process: CPU usage in minutes for worst processes.
- Average Memory by Process: The amount of memory consumed by different processes.
- Most Active Processes by Instances: The number of times that a process has been started.
- Total Consumed CPU Time by User: CPU usage in minutes for the most active users.
- Average Consumed Memory by User: The average amount of memory consumed by processes per user.
In order to monitor additional processes, select ADMINISTRATION > Agent Configuration > Configurations, select the agent configuration group that you wish to change and modify the parameters in the Process Report section. For example, setting Report % CPU usage higher than and CPU usage top ? list to 0 (zero) will make the agent collect information about all processes.

The Load Overview chart (ANALYZE > Overview > IP Traffic > Load Overview) presents an overview of communication to servers, ports and applications as well as from subnets and Citrix servers. It also lets you quickly identify the most used processes.
- Type: Determines the type of information shown on the pie chart:
- Servers: Lists servers accessed by computers.
- Processes: Lists processes used by computers.
IP data process information is not collected on computers that run Windows XP.
- Ports: Lists ports accessed by computers.
- Services: Lists server:port combinations accessed by computers.
- Subnets (outgoing traffic): List client subnets that have accessed servers.
- Citrix Servers (outgoing traffic): List Citrix servers that have accessed servers.
- Show top # only: By default only the top 20 entities are shown, but you can change this if required. Note that the last 5 % is always grouped together as a single pie slice named The Rest.
- Agents: Filter on computers. Select a specific group of computers or All agents.
- Servers: Filter on servers. Select All Servers, All Monitored Servers or a specific server or server group.
- Data Type: Determines the type of data by which the pie chart is ordered. The option Unavailability means the number of requests that didn't receive a response.
- Interval: Select which time interval the pie chart should be based on. If the predefined intervals don't suit you, select Custom to specify your own interval.
If your time interval is longer than four hours, and you have only selected monitored servers, the pie chart will be calculated based on hourly trend data.
