Improvements

 New Package Names

The “Push Upgrade” package works as the “Upgrade” package did before.

The “Publish Upgrade” package doesn’t prompt the end-user to start the upgrade, but still shows a warning prompt, telling the end-user to close all their applications, etc.

A new “Force Upgrade” package has been added. The package doesn't prompt the end-user before starting the upgrade, and doesn’t show any warning prompts.

A new “Force Upgrade with Reboot” package has been added. The package acts the same way as the “Force Upgrade” package, but also allows reboot(s) during the initial upgrade phase.

(info) The “Force Upgrade with Reboot” package could cause the service to lose control of the upgrade phases, and the installation screen might not function properly.

 Disk space check

The free disk space requirement has been raised from 10 GB to 15 GB. The check for free disk space is only executed during the “PreUpgrade” phase in the “Upgrade” packages.

 Microsoft printer handling

Software based printers from Microsoft are now uninstalled before running the compatibility scan. Previously, the compatibility scan returned an error when incompatible software based printers were installed.

Technical Stuff

 Bug Fixes
  • The search for a custom content package did not find a match. CapaWinUpgradeLib has been updated to support variables with major and minor Windows versions.

Known Issues

  • Setting gbDebug=True will break the logging functionality

  • We have deployed a “Silent Upgrade” package through the Cloud Updater by mistake. The package was deployed on May 17, 2022 between 8 AM and 9 PM. Please delete the package if it exists in your CapaInstaller installation. Thank you.

Download and Upgrade

As soon as you run the “Cloud Updater” package on your server, after November 19, 2021, the new CapaWinUpgrade 5.1 files will be available in your environment.

It doesn’t require any implementation if you already have a previous version of CapaWinUpgrade.
