Asset Management overview

Introduction

CapaInstaller Asset Management is based on an agent running on all computers and servers in the environment. The agent delivers collected inventory information to the management server. From here the replicator updates the database making the information available for the console user. Using the Asset Management plug-in it is possible to add custom inventory information to the database.

Using the reporting plug-in it is possible to define web-based reports.

The suggested architecture for a Small/Medium business is shown above. The CapaInstaller Management Point (CMP) development and production are located on the LAN along with the management database. The workstations and users on the LAN are serviced by the LAN based CapaInstaller Management server (CMS). The workstations and users in remote locations are serviced by a CapaInstaller Management Server located on the internet or as in this case in the DMZ.
