Manage boot image drivers

Introduction

The following is a description of how to manage boot image drivers.

OSD is using WinPE to provide a simple common platform to boot from, however this may sometimes require additional drivers to be added to the WinPE boot image to support new or special hardware currently unknown to WinPE. This section describes how to manage such drivers.

Step

Action

1

Right click the deployment point and select Boot Image→Manage drivers.

2

In this windows you can add or remove drivers from the collection of drivers added to the boot image.

3

Click Add... to add a new driver to the list.

Make sure you remove Inffile decoration as it will remove any troublesome entries in the .inf file, that might prevent WinPE from using the driver correctly.

Click OK to add the driver to the list.

4

When you are done and click OK you will be presented with the option of rebuilding your boot image, this is required for the changes to apply.

Update OS Deployment

After the boot image has been tested and promoted remember to update the OS Deployment in order to be able to boot from the image.
