Network
Introduction
The Base Agent uses information about the active network adapter and its default gateway so that it can determine if it is a part of an IP-subnet that is linked to a Distribution Server.
In order to do that, it determines which network adapter is used for communication with the Front-end Server. This adapter is shown in the 'Active Network Adapter' section. Having that information, it is possible to set the IP address and the MAC address of the default gateway.
With this information, the Base Agent is capable of determining if it is supposed to connect to a Distribution Server.
If there is an IP scope that includes the IP address determined, in the 'Active Network Adapter' or has the MAC address of the default gateway, the Base Agent considers this the 'Detected Network'.
The Base Agent will then try to communicate with the Distribution Server (BAADS) on that server and if a connection is made, it will be shown in the 'Distribution Server' field. If a connection, for some reason, is not made or the connection disappears, the Base Agent will try retry later.
