Approval rules
Introduction
For a Patch Management child point, it is possible to define approval rules. Using this form it is possible to select a standard approval rule or build a custom based on the update classification chosen.
The following options are available:
• To approve updates manually select “Manually approve the updates”. As an exception here it is possible to “Automatically approve updates for root patch management groups”.
• To approve updates automatically to all groups select “Approve the updates to all groups immediately”.
• To approve updated in a scheduled manner select “Use scheduled approval”. As an exception here it is possible to manually approve updates to the root group.
For all approval rules, it is possible to define exceptions. These exceptions can be designed using the “Customized approval” section. From here it is possible to define in any scenario that updates of a certain classification can be approved automatically to all Patch Management points or simply handled manually. “Custom approval” will basically illustrate effective rules.
The Patch Management service handles the approval process. The task is executed every 6 hours.
