AdminOnDemand 2.0 - Release Notes

Product released September 30, 2022 - Document updated September 14, 2022

Session Elevation

Session elevation is a great new feature that grants selected users local administrative privileges to their entire Windows session, within a specified period of time.

Session elevation enables users to control system settings and install or remove any application.

Session elevation is considered to be more secure than operating system elevation because, with session elevation, the user is prompted for credentials every time they perform an action that requires administrative privileges.

All actions performed during session elevation are logged, and some actions such as elevation requests and application changes, are also presented on the online dashboard.

You can read more about the configuration of session elevation here

Dashboard View

The dashboard view has been updated to reflect that AdminOnDemand now supports both session elevation and process elevation.

The tiles showing “Installed Applications”, “Removed Applications” and “Elevated User Accounts” are based on information from both elevation modes. The pie charts showing “Most installed applications” and “Most active users” are also based on information from both elevation modes.

The tile showing “Elevated Applications” is based on information only from process elevations.

New tabs for “Process Elevation” and “Session Elevation” have been added. They contain information filtered for each elevation mode.
