Alongside the agent another executable, GuardAgentTray.exe is installed. This executable provides a small graphical interface for the PerformanceGuard agent.
Enabling the PerformanceGuard Agent GUI
Access to the interface is controlled in the agent configuration groups. To grant access to the agent GUI you should make sure that at least the Enable Task Bar Icon option is selected.
PerformanceGuard System Tray Icon
If Enable Task Bar Icon is selected (which by default it isn't), PerformanceGuard will show the PerformanceGuard agent icon in the notification area (also known as the system tray) of each agent computer that uses the agent configuration in question. The notification area is usually located in the lower right part of the screen. If you right-clickthe icon you get a menu. The available commands in the menu are determined by the agent configuration.
The PerformanceGuard agent may display different versions of the icon in the system tray:

I have installed the agent, why can't I see the icon? The most likely reason is that the PerformanceGuard administrator has configured the solution to never display the icon. Ask your PerformanceGuard administrator if you're in doubt. Even if the PerformanceGuard administrator has configured the solution to show the icon, the icon isn't displayed until the agent has been in contact with PerformanceGuard for the first time. Therefore, if you install agents before you install the server, the icon isn't displayed until you get the server up and running. |
