PerformanceGuard® 7.1 Release Notes
Release date: 2017, March 28th
What's New in the Server?
PerformanceGuard 7.1 introduces two new widgets:
Application Performance Overview
This widget allows the operator to compare performance of multiple applications across multiple locations and multiple metrics. Using this widget, it is now possible to compare e.g. response times from a single computer with a location to help identify if response times experienced on that computer are also seen elsewhere. Setting up the widget has been improved by simplifying the process – just select from the list of defined applications, find the location in a tree structure, select the required metrics, and you are ready to go. The widget automatically selects the most suitable data resolution, and the operator can toggle min/max areas on and off. Setting up applications for this widget is described here.
Windows Performance Counters
Accessing the same performance counters for different computers has never been easier. You can set up Windows Performance Counters in this widget on the fly or in a predefined dashboard and select the desired computers. Selecting counters is now done from a tree structure, with the ability to select entire counter objects with all counters and instances with a single click.
New Built-In Dashboards
PerformanceGuard 7.1 comes with two new built-in dashboards:
Application Performance Overview
This dashboard provides a quick overview of application performance. Just select from the list of defined applications, and you are ready to go. The performance of an application can be viewed for locations as well as individual computers.
This dashboard presents all counters included in the built-in Custom Counter Template for SQL Server. Just select the computer you wish to view, and the dashboard will update with all counters.
Miscellaneous Improvements
Custom Counter Templates
We have added a set of templates for easier configuration of Windows Performance Counters.
Computer Info
The Computer Info widget now includes Vendor, Model and BIOS version of the selected computer, provided that you upgrade your PerformanceGuard agents to version 7.1.
Widget Renamed
The Computer Performance widget has been renamed to Computer Usage to avoid it being confused with other widgets.
Widget Improvements
The zoom out functionality has been greatly improved to allow fast zoom out.
Moving the mouse over a data series on a graph, or its label below the graph, will highlight the series.
Search for Computers
On dashboards that use a computer as input, it is now possible to search for computers by:
- Computer name
- User logged in
- Location
- Subnet
- Agent group
Dashboard revisions
PerformanceGuard maintains a history for each dashboard, by registering the modifying user and the date at which a dashboard is saved. Administrators are able to revert to any previous version of the dashboard
Browser Support
This version is supported in both Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 as well as Google Chrome.
We recommend using Google Chrome when accessing PerformanceGuard, because this browser is much faster than Internet Explorer 11
What's New in the Agent?
The following briefly describes improvements on the agent with this release:
- Support for version 2 Windows Performance Counters
Installation and Upgrades
