Groups and Business Units
Introduction
A Group either exists in the global part of a Configuration Management Point, or inside a business unit.
If it is located inside a business unit, it can only have members that are also members of that same business unit.
If a group exists in the global part of a Configuration Management Point, it can have the package and MDM profile members, regardless of which business units they have been assigned to. The global group may also have unit members, which exists in a business unit, but those units will only be assigned to packages and profiles if they are also assigned to that business unit.
This enables the option to link a profile or a package to units in multiple business units through a global group, instead of having to create copies of a group inside each business unit and manage the links there.
