Preinstallation
Introduction
The Pre-Installation section defines the preinstall task that is executed prior to the application installation. Each of the possible settings is described below. The settings displayed will depend on the template and the generator.
Preinstallation section | Description |
Required diskspace | Specify the amount of space (as an integer, in megabytes) that the installed application requires. The actual requirement could be higher if the package is downloaded prior to installation. The program/script will automatically calculate the extra space needed (CMS). |
Installation drive | Select the drive letter for the target drive to which the installation should be made. |
Check system | The script/program is able to check the operating system event log for critical errors on the system before the installation starts. If it finds any the script/program will cancel the installation and generating an error log. Critical event are defined in capalib.ini. The default events come from the disk sub system. Select one of the following options: Yes: To enable the system-check feature. No: To disable the feature and install without checking the System event log. |

It enables the system to be rolled back to a previous setting, thereby undoing an installation that resulted in a faulty system. This option only takes effect on clients where this feature is available and enabled; it will otherwise be ignored. Select one of the following options: Yes: To set a new system restore point before running the package No: To disable the feature and install without setting a restore point. |
Download Before Install | This setting controls whether the entire installation package, including the install program, should be downloaded to the client before starting the installation. By downloading the full package, the install process will not be sensitive to network traffic or connectivity issues. The script will automatically check for the hard disk space needed. Select one of the following options: Yes: To download the full package before starting the installation. No: To run the installer over the network. |
