Upgrade

Introduction

Upgrading CapaInstaller Patch Management is done in a number of steps starting with the database. Afterward, the group structure on the WSUS Server is created and in the end, updates are approved to the new WSUS server structure. The old WSUS Server structure will remain, but it will not be used from the Patch Management.

Step

Action

1

To begin with, run the CapaInstaller Setup Wizard to upgrade the database and the CapaInstaller Console. The Setup Wizard will upgrade the database with the new WSUS tables

2

After the database has been upgraded, the PM Service must be updated for further actions to take place. The PM Service should be updated from the Self Update.

3

When the PM Service is updated the old Wsus server structure will be copied to a new structure starting with a new root point called CapaInstaller. Under the CapaInstaller point, a new child point called Standard Computers will be created. Under Standard Computers point the old Wsus Server groups Test and Production will be created.

The old structure will remain, but it will not be used in the Patch Management plugin.

4

When the Wsus structure has been upgraded, the update approvals from the old structure will be synchronized to the new structure. Computers linked to the old structure will also be moved to the new structure, but to begin with only in the database, later on, they will be moved on the Wsus Server also when they collect updates from the new groups.
