The Application Activity Widget shows the activity on an application by presenting how many unique computers have accessed the application within a certain time period.
The widget can show this information about any application - including web-based activities that your PerformanceGuard administrator has defined. You can use the widget to gain more specific information than is provided by event monitoring. This in turn can help you identify the application(s) when particular colleagues use it.
The following steps must be done before you can set up and start using the Widget:
ADMINISTRATION > Event Management > Event Rules
You can set up rules as Sever / Port (server-based application activity) or Transaction (web-based application activity):
- Transaction - Application Online
- Your PerformanceGuard administrator has set up transaction filters, if not then simply create new and then create new event rule.
- IP Service - Application Online
- Your PerformanceGuard administrator has set up Server / Port groups, if not then simply create new and then create new event rule.
Before you set up the widget, you need to find out if your administrator has set up rules in Event Management as described above that you wish to view in the widget.
When you're ready to add the widget to a dashboard, you simply select the required information in the widget setup menus.
You can configure the number of allowed computers by adding a number i.e. if more computers than that number are seen then widget will change the color. You can set different values for the number of allowed computers for same or different locations using the multiple widgets.
Your PerformanceGuard administrator has typically set up the widget to display applications on your dashboard.
When that's the case, you can simply use the Locations and Applications menus in the top part of the dashboard to view the number for computers for selected Time Period.
The widget displays the application name and number of computers showing activity for the selected locations.
