Performance Index Guage Widget

The Performance Index Gauge widget gives an overview of how business applications have performed in the past as well as how they perform right now.

The widget shows a 10 minute and 1-hour index score of how the applications have performed and a green/red arrow to quickly spot the current trend. The clock hands are showing the index score for 10 minutes as the minute hand and the last hour as the hour hand.

The index scores are calculated based on Adaptive Baselining values, by comparing the response time for both the previous 10 minutes and the hour with the current

Examples for the resolution for the last full 10 minutes (0-10, 10-20, 20-30, etc.) and the last full hour:

For the last 10 minutes: At 10.15 you will get data for the interval 10:00-10:10
For the last hour: At 10:15 you will get data for the interval 09:00-10:00
For the last hour: At 10:46 you will get data for the interval 10:00-11:00.

Examples of index score calculations:

Average response time = 200 ms
Adaptive baseline = 50 ms
100 x (Reference time / measured time) = 100 x (50 / 200) ms = 25 index score

Average response time = 50 ms
Adaptive baseline = 100 ms
100 x (Reference time / measured time) = 100 x (100 / 50) ms = 200 index score

An index score below 100 is worse and above means better response time.

Set Up the Widget

You can only do this if you're a PerformanceGuard administrator.

Before you set up the widget, you need to find out if you have defined the applications that you want to be able to view in the widget and enabled the Adaptive Baseline before the widget will start working.

When you are ready to add the widget to a dashboard, you simply select the required information in the widget setup dialogs.

Options to setup

    • One size for all gauges - shows all the gauges in the same size
    • Vertical layout - aligns the gauges vertically
  • Custom gauge percentages
    • for each application, a custom percentage can be set to weight them seperately.
